Help

Please read the following instructions which will explain how to contact the support team most relevant to your problem thus ensuring you get the fastest possible response.

Help with a particular application

LSE for You has a contextual help system that answers frequently asked questions and allows you to submit support queries directly to the team best able to help with the application being used.

You will find a contextual help link to the top right of the application you are using. If for example you were using the 'Exam Results' application the link would be for 'Help with Exam Results'. Clicking this link should open a pop-up window with the help page for that application.

The help page may contain answers to frequently asked questions for that application. If so, please check if any of these answer your query first. If they don't, then you will find at the bottom of the help page an option to send a written enquiry. If there aren't any frequently asked questions then the help page will present the form to send a written enquiry directly.

Please always use this contextual help feature to request help with a particular application. Any written enquiry you submit will go directly to the team best able to help with the application being used ensuring you the fastest possible response.

Help with missing options

Each user of LSE for You has an individual profile based on their status in various systems. According to your status, you will qualify for various roles which will in turn qualify you for access to various options (applications). Profiles are dynamic and will be updated automatically as your status changes.

One group of applications all users have access to is under the listed under the 'Everyone' category inside the 'LSE for You Options' folder, these provide details of all the applications published via LSE for You, together with the roles they are published to and details of what one needs to qualify for a particular role. Amongst those, the 'My LSE for You Profile' application gives details of all the roles and applications you qualify for at the moment.

If you have just created an account to access LSE for You but don't find all the options you expected this is most likely because your account has not yet had its profile generated fully. Please allow up to one hour for this (although it will usually take much less). You will need to login to LSE for You again for the updated profile to be read.

If the options available to you do not meet your expectations, please see the 'About LSE for You Roles' page which describes the criteria used to determine the options available to you.

Help with login

If you find that you cannot logon to LSE for You, the possible reasons, in order of likelihood are:

  • You have entered the incorrect username or password. For LSE staff and students - your username is a single word, something like 'ABRAM' - it is NOT your email address. While, for LSE Public Account holders (including alumni and applicants) your username is your personal email address. If your web browser has been set to remember your password then try entering your password manually instead.
  • You have forgotten your username or password, in which case there is further guidance here.
  • You have just created a new LSE Public Account (as used by alumni and applicants amongst others) but have not yet 'activated' it. When you create one of these accounts, using your personal email address as the username, an activation code is emailed to that address. You must submit the code to activate your account before you can use it. If the email hasn't arrived in your inbox, check your junk mail folder (or equivalent) in case it was misidentified as spam.
  • You have entered the correct username/password but only after 3 times failing to enter the correct username/password - try another computer - use the same computer but wait half an hour before trying again.
  • Your web browser is not accepting our cookie - allow our website to set a cookie (see your web browser documentation).
  • You don't have any permission to use LSE for You: this is unlikely if you are an LSE student or member of staff. - ask IT Services to check that the number on your id card matches that on their records. - If you are an alumni and have not set up an account, please see the alumni relations website for guidance. Applicants will be invited (by email) to open an account at the appropriate point in the application process. Please note: if you are a new student who has recently collected your password and changed it and then cannot log in please revisit the password collector page to check that your password was changed, further advice is available in the password collector screen help.
