• Two types of login accounts are used at the LSE - LSE Network Accounts and LSE Public Accounts.
• LSE Network Accounts are typically given to current staff and students. The advantage of the LSE Network Account is that it can give access to more resources including LSE email and the LSE network. An LSE Network Account username is a single word, for example 'ANON1'
• LSE Public Accounts are typically used by applicants and alumni, i.e. people who are not currently at the LSE. LSE Public Accounts have the advantage that they don't expire so allow for continued access to LSE for You and other web based systems even after one has left the School. An LSE Public Account is a non-LSE email address, for example 'anon1@anon.com'

Which account should I use?

If you have both an LSE Public Account and an LSE Network Account then you can use either account to access many of the School's web based resources. However your LSE Network Account has more permissions, for example it allows you to print and send emails and use the LSE Wallet, so you may as well use your LSE Network Account.

I have an LSE Network Account, should I close my LSE Public Account

You are encouraged to keep your LSE Public Account as it will allow you to continue to access many School resources after you leave the School (when you might, for example, want to order a Transcript or take advantage of the Careers Service). It also gives you another way to access our services should you, for example, forget your LSE Network Account password.
